Atrocities performed against the Jewish population?

Ok, so for modern history I have to write a speech about the Jews wanting the partition of palestine so that they can have the promised land and all that, im writing from the position of a Jew, and i'm writing to the UN. its 1947, and i need to play the sympathy card, and I've already talked about what happened under the nazi german regime, but I need more atrocities and such that were performed against the Jews, any ideas?
